Apps / Programs for Instruction &

Professional Development

Click on the title below each video to take you to that app in the iTunes store or the program's web page.

AirTable

A great app for creating interactive, dynamic presentations. You can include polling, quizzing, open-ended text, links, etc. Control what your participants/students  are seeing on their mobile devices. (free with limited numbers; can upgrade)

Twitter

Tweet your way to an incredible PD event! Use Twitter as a way to harness your students' backchanneling in class! (free; both app and web-based)

Puppet Pals 2 demo

Watch one of my students' awesome videos made with Puppet Pals 2! It's not just for little kiddies anymore... (free for basic version; I recommend getting "Director's Cut" for $4.99)

Introduction

Explain Everything

Create and share video lessons; interactive white board (there are free versions of similar tools, but I find this one to be worth the money)

Padlet

A blank wall full of possibilities... (web-based, Android, or iOS; free)

TodaysMeet

Channel your chatter at a PD event or in class! (web-based; free)

ThingLink

Make still photos or images interactive. Lisa's new favorite app! (free)

SimpleMind

A favorite (and free!) mind-mapping app.

Nearpod

A great app for creating interactive, dynamic presentations. You can include polling, quizzing, open-ended text, links, etc. Control what your participants/students  are seeing on their mobile devices. (free with limited numbers; can upgrade)

Haiku Deck

A great presentation app that deliberately limits the amount of text you can use in order to maximize effectiveness. It comes with a huge library of images you can use, or you can upload your own. Very intuitive and easy to use. (free)

Educreations

A free interactive white board app. Like Explain Everything but without some of the bells and whistles.
